Application and Guidelines
Please be sure to read these guidelines before completing this application.
Eligibility
  • Applications must be postmarked by March 20.
  • All applications postmarked after March 20 will be disqualified. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Applicants must be a CAFS member, member’s child or a member’s legal dependent. A member is defined as a person who is involved and active in a fair or show which is a member in good standing with CAFS.
  • Applicant must be active in local county fair or show which is a member of CAFS.
  • Applicant must be an active 4-H member prior to college or an active FFA member.
  • Only eligible high school seniors or a graduate with a minimum of a “B” average in both the junior and senior year.
  • This scholarship is non-renewable.
  • College may be any creditable post-secondary school.
Scholarship Awards
  • Award notification will be given by mid-May.
  • Applicant must provide their student ID, the correct mailing address of their institution and the department where their scholarship check is to be received no later than February 1.
  • Award amounts will be distributed after the first semester when a student’s final grades are received by Colorado Association of Fairs and Shows.
Application Check List
  • The application must be completely filled out. Application can be found at www.coloradofairs.org
  • A one page essay from the applicant.
  • Include three (3) letters of reference from adult peers, one from someone affiliated with your fair or show. Letters can be mailed or emailed to angie@coloradofairs.org
  • Include a senior photo
  • Applications must be postmarked by March 20

Your College Plans

State your plans for enrollment to an accredited college or university. Include planned major.

Employment and Community Service

List jobs you have held even if not paid (include job on family farm, baby-sitting, etc)
Please list total hrs, not average hrs/week.
List volunteer work or community service you have performed without pay.

Include scholastic, extracurricular and civic honors and awards during grades 9 through 12.   State nature of award and grade won:  i.e. Girl Scout Award, etc.  Please do not abbreviate names of awards.  Please include a brief description, explain the purpose of the award and why you received it in 25 words or less.

Applicant Essay
You must prepare an essay of 350 words or less stating:  the role being involved with fairs has played in your leadership and career aspirations, and achieving your life goals.  The essay must be dated and signed.
 
Exhibits
Please attached copies of exhibits of achievements in scholarship, leadership, community service, or other activities but avoid repetition.  Examples of exhibits include newspaper articles featuring the applicant or letters of commendation.
